Dear Parents/Guardians:
The ACCESS test for English Learners (ELs) will begin on January 9, 2022. This is a very important test that will give us information to be able to monitor individual EL student progress on an annual basis. The results will be used to determine the level of instruction and the areas of language that need attention. The test is also used to determine whether the student is eligible to exit EL services.
We will be hosting a Family Night with activities and dinner on January 3rd, 2024, as well as for families to receive more information about the Access test in the school cafetorium. Parents and children are welcomed to attend. We will start at 5:00pm and food will be available at 5:30pm.
Here are some tips that you might find helpful to get your child ready to take the test:
- Keep a positive attitude about the ACCESS.
- Encourage your child to do well but don't pressure him/her. It is important for your child to stay relaxed for the test.
- Talking about the ACCESS with your child can relieve stress about taking the test.
- Make sure that your child gets enough sleep on the night before the test and eats a healthy breakfast.
- Attendance is critical. Make sure that your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school.
Thank you for supporting your child and our school during this test. Please feel free to contact your child’s ESL teacher at 508-997-4511 ext. 31551/31553
Sincerely,
Principal
Sean Woodard-McNiff
